Medito : Meditation for People, Not for Profit

Mindfulness is becoming an increasingly promoted and appreciated tool.

However, many people can perceive it as difficult to access, another financial commitment or one that will consume precious time out of an already busy schedule.

This is where Medito can help, a completely free, flexible and multifaceted meditation app.

Developing Medito

Medito was launched in April 2020 to provide free meditation to the masses. It is free, accessible, flexible and for everyone and anyone.

Romain Sourdiaux founder of Medito;

“We believe that mindfulness is an extremely important tool that can change people’s lives. Studies have shown that it can reduce anxiety & stress, enhance cognition, attention & memory, improve general well-being, and a lot more. We believe this kind of resource should not be restricted to those who can afford a monthly subscription, so the app will always be free for everyone.”

It is one of the few apps that provides high quality yet completely free meditation and mindfulness resources. By September 2020 it had already hit 100,000 downloads, proving its immediate success.

The app is run 100% by volunteers. There are no subscription fees, no ads, nothing but volunteers’ time and passion towards helping others.

It is also continuously being developed with a new student pack coming soon and translators working to make it accessible in a range of languages.

Benefits of Meditation

The benefits of meditation are vast. Some of the few benefits are:

  • Develop clarity
  • Improve concentration
  • Reduce stress
  • Increase creativity
  • Increase productivity

“We might be tricked into believing that if we’d stop thinking, it would be the end of our mind activity. Actually, there’s much more to the mind than thinking. When we are able to stop for a while the constant chatter that goes on inside our heads, we make space for direct experience, unmediated through artifacts like thoughts and images.”

One of the joys of meditation is that it can be useful to anyone, it’s a tool that can be tailored to your specific needs, worries and thoughts.

Making Use of the App

One of the best features of the app is its ease to navigate to what you are looking for and the variety in lengths of sessions that allow you to take 3 minutes out of your day or 10 minutes. There are a range of meditation packs including Work Life Balance, Sleep and Stress & Anxiety.

Whether you struggle with sleep, experience anxiety or want to lead a happier work life, there is a pack for you.

A Student’s Use of Medito:

As a student, anxiety over deadlines for university work but also from commitments outside my studies and the pressures to be social, keep fit and have a healthy mind can be a lot to process. I use meditation to:

  • Calm my mind before sleep so I can get the best night’s sleep
  • Lower my stress around deadlines
  • Increase my focus if I am having a day where my mind isn’t in the right place

Previous access to meditation has always been one of financial commitment which, as a student, I can’t commit to. That’s why Medito is the perfect solution.

Clearly Medito is the app for the people, where you can explore the benefits of meditation for free, always.

Take 5 minutes out of your day today and see how meditation can improve your wellbeing.
