During these uncertain times, many people are experiencing stress and anxiety, which makes now a great time to begin managing and keeping track of your levels of stress and how you can decrease those levels.

There are many days, especially during this time, where you may feel overwhelmed by certain stressors in your life, but there are luckily a lot of self-therapy tips you can follow to help bring you back to your happy and calm self. Whether you’re a busy mom or dealing with a pesky to-do list, these tips for stress management can be just what you need to get yourself through the rest of the day.

Self-therapy is the habit of healing yourself with methods that are therapeutic to help you deal with personal or emotional situations. This can include many different therapeutic philosophies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychotherapy, and mindfulness practices. Since many are seeking ways to keep calm during these insane times, we’ll focus on giving you simple self-therapy tips that you can incorporate into your day-to-day routine.

Since the genre of self-help has gotten a bad wrap recently, you may feel like all of this is too good to be true. However, many scientists have been studying self-counseling and its effects for years, and the results have been positive. For example, researchers compared traditional, face-to-face counseling against the effects of self-therapy. The study resulted in each method having equal effects on participants’ levels of anxiety!

More studies have proved that a lot of self-therapy practices can improve your mood and help reduce stress. The Medical Journal of Australia conducted a study that showed bibliotherapy (the therapy of written words) and exercise were effective in improving depression during winter, and another showed that exercise, relaxation training, and bibliotherapy all helped to improve anxiety. One study even showed that self-help therapy improves insomnia!
