Amazing What You Can Do In Limited Time

I’m off to Exeter today to observe a training course that I’m hoping to be running in the not too distant future.

I had intended getting an earlier train so that I could combine dropping my daughter off at school with a lift from my husband but this morning I realised I had too much to do for that!

That’s where it’s handy to live next door to one’s in-laws!

I’m writing this on the train late morning and thinking about how much you can get done in limited time if you put your mind to it.

Get Lots Done in Limited Time

In the extra hour and a quarter I had this morning I cleared my in-tray (that was rather full and about a week overdue!), updated my to do list on Simpleology (my preferred tool for managing my tasks), packed my case, started off our latest slow cooker pot of bone broth, washed up and listened to a podcast from Fitter Food (my ‘go to people’ for our diet choices).

And, in the time I’ve been at the station and on the train, I’ve listened to another podcast about ‘paying yourself first’ in business, updated a page on my guardianship website and written this post!

How often do we get organised enough to do so much in a limited time though?

I am really trying at the moment to create focus in my daily activities. If I don’t I find myself wafting along getting ‘a bit’ done but nowhere near enough!

Time to Focus

I’ve started trying to use an app called ‘Focus Time’ to use the principles of the Pomodoro Technique’, which is definitely helping even though I don’t always remember to switch it on!

This post is an example of using tools and resources to make the most of your time. I’m typing this into the WordPress app on my iPhone whilst on the train.

If I’d waited until I’d got more time and was in front of my laptop it wouldn’t have happened!

I’m pleased that I’ve been productive this morning. And I’m liking this app. I’ve had it on my phone for a while but I’ve not really used it much. There really is no excuse for procrastinating on blogging with this!

What tools are you using for focus and productivity? Any good podcasts you can recommend?
